A new company has been offering to pay homeowner mortgages in exchange for painting advertisements on the side of houses.

The company will pay for each month the ad remains up.  According to examiner.com, the company which launched in April 2011 already has 38,000 applicants from homeowners wishing to participate.

From an advertising perspective, it sounds like a good idea for those clients needing to get into specific neighborhoods; especially neighborhoods that may not be zoned for more traditional forms of outdoor.  But there will most likely be issues with zoning ordinances as some city officials will be looking at the ads as graffiti.

Your High School’s Football Field Just Became Ad Space

The National Federation of State High School Associations, which oversees the state entities that oversee most of prep sports in America, is now making available to advertisers the green, green grass (or synthetic turf) of high school football fields.

On Feb. 9, NFHS announced its football rule changes for 2012, and, besides a concussion-protection rule that forces a play who gets his helmet dislodged to sit out the next play, one new rule is 1-2-3l, which for the first time allows member high schools to sell on-field advertising. Previously, a high school could sell space in the end zone, or signage around the field, or even sell naming rights to the stadium itself. But now, as long as the advertisements don’t obstruct the yard lines, hash marks or nine-yard marks, space can be sold on the field itself.

The NFHS news release on the subject didn’t detail why the sacred ground of high school fields is now available for commercials. But there’s no doubt that schools — in the face of declining property-tax collections and taxpayer resistance to pay higher rates to make up for them — are under pressure to find alternative sources of funding. And there is going to be interest in the space. Companies have found school and youth sports an efficient mechanism to reach young athletes, and the parents who spend scads of money on them.

A few years ago, HBO converted an entire subway train into an old west saloon as part of the launch of the series “Deadwood”.

Burma-Shave was a “brushless” shaving cream introduced in 1925.  Advertising typically consisted of 6 small signs placed consecutively on the side of Interstates for passing motorists to read.  The copy was clever and usually ended with a punchline.

Our annual Holiday Party was held on December 14, 2011 at Clubhouse 66 Restaurant in Glendora, CA.  Our President, Nicholas Petralia started off with remarks.

Food and drinks flowed while a round of door prizes, and BINGO ensued.

Next, medals were given out to Winner employees.  Stacy and Sal both received medals.

Then came the main event, the White Elephant Gift Exchanges.  The two gifts below were the most popular, each being traded the maximum of three times.

A good time was had by all.
